ABOUT ABOUT

Please join us on Saturday October 26th, 2019 from 11am to 3pm to celebrate the end of another growing season with two of our core partner farmers, John and Rachel Glick of the Sunny Harvest Collective!

As we’ve said time and time again, Philly Foodworks isn’t just an online market. We are greatly invested in the local food system and always striving to do our part. Along with your help over the years, we’ve been able to make some incredible investments. In particular, with one of our longtime farmers, John Glick (of Sunny Harvest). This summer—together with PFW members and partners—we financed a new fully heated greenhouse for the Glicks, allowing them to grow produce in the ground throughout the dead of winter, and enabling them to expand their offerings even more—including some crops exclusively for PFW! The new greenhouse will go up in mid- to late October and we couldn’t be more grateful for the support from our members that made it possible!

On behalf of Philly Foodworks and John & Rachel Glick, we’d loved to celebrate with you and show our appreciation. Come experience a warm environment of friendship and solidarity in Amish country, PA!

This event is free to Philly Foodworks members, but we would appreciate any donations (suggested $10/ticket) to help us cover food and staffing. All remaining proceeds will be given to the Glick family farm (our hosts).

The event will include:

Farm Tour and Q&A with John Glick and Philly Foodworks CEO Dylan Baird- Explore a working Amish farm, check out the newly PFW member– financed Greenhouse, and learn about John Glick's growing practices and how the Glick–Philly Foodworks partnership impacts our local food system.

Crafts & Activites for All Ages - Gourd monster making, caramel apple dipping, pumpkin bowling, apple pressing, flower bouquet making (based on flower availability), and more!

Handmade Pallet Christmas Trees & Succulent Window Boxes - for sale, made by the Glick family. (if interested, bring cash!)

Breakfast, Lunch & Snacks: coffee & pastries. Lunch will be served at 1 pm and will consist of a vegetarian & non-vegetarian Chili & Garden Salad.  Freshmade popcorn & hot apple cider will be served throughout the day.

***Event is Rain or shine! There is a large indoor space and plenty of activities planned for inside if we do get rain***
