ABOUT ABOUT

Come celebrate the begining of fall with the Honey Brook Harvest Collective and Philly Foodworks!

The Riehl Family Farm will be hosting all of us for the second annual harvest party. Enjoy a fun day of games, arts and crafts, and delicious food. You will have the opportunity to tour a working Amish farm! Pet the horses, feed the chickens, feed the pigs, meet the cows and explore the produce patch. The Riehl Family Farm provides many of the veggies in the CSA along with the eggs, beef, and pork.

This is a chance for everyone who is part of this beautful community to hangout and enjoy a day together. Being in the middle, we at Philly Foodworks know how much producers appreciate members and how much members appreciate producers; now we can all share that mutual appreciation! There will be a number of other producers from the Farm Share in attendance as well.

There is a suggested donation of $10/ticket, but the event is pay as you will. We appreciate your support in our CSA and we want everyone to be able to enjoy this wonderful day. There will be food provided and lots of fun activities, so anything you want to contribute is much appreciated!

We are also looking at chartering a bus from our warhouse (2901 W. Hunting Park, Philadelphia 19129). The warehouse is accessible via bus or your can drive and park your car in the parking lot. We need 30 people to make it worth it and it will be $10/round trip. If you are interested please email [email protected].

Below are all of the activities!

Morning yoga class with Cristina, founder of Sculpere Studios (http://www.sculpere.com/). Cristina was part of the San Deigo dance company before launching her career in yoga. Cristina blends her knowledge in dance and yoga to create an encompassing experience for mind and body. The class is for all levels, set on the back drop of the Reihl Family farm. Bring your own mat/blanket.

Yogurt making workshop with Esther Riehl - Learn how to milk a cow and use the fresh milk to make homemade yogurt!

Learn to Milk a Cow Workshop - Reuben will show you the ropes on how to milk a cow! Who knows, maybe you'll be inspired to get one of your own. Urban cow anyone?

Crafts for Adults and Kids - Make fall spice packs and decorate gords! We're also doing a decorate-your-own reusable bag. Now you can bring your bag to your pick up location, pick up your box contents and leave the packaging at the cafe!

Apple Pressing! - Press apples and enjoy fresh and warm apple cider.

Wagon Rides: We are hitching up the wagon and touring the Reihl Family Farm. 47 acres of feilds and woods.  Who knows, there may be some hidden pumpkins in the feild to find!

Food! Enjoy fresh baked amish pastries, an epic pig roast, delicious vegetable dishes, a PFW tasting booth with samples from some of our favorite producers and so much more (vegetarians freindly food will be offered!)

Games - We will be hosting the ultimate farm relay race. The old fashioned way. We're talking burlap sacks, bobbing for apples, corn shucking, egg + spoon race, three legged race, and much more. Get ready! In addition, we'll have a ton of awesome games for anyone to enjoy anytime.
